Tucked under his belt is a pioneering experience in a highly specialized field of ship management, with emphasis on LPG Tankers. Arben Santos counts more than forty years of experience in Shipping which started when he was very young after graduating from one of the country's top schools, the Ateneo de Manila with a degree in Management Engineering.
Santos is a maverick in his field. Colleagues remember him as a man who dreams big and buckles down to work to achieve that dream. He values quality and dedication among his people and gives them the freedom to run the company guided by the principles he had lived by in his decades of service.
He had gone where so very few ventured- Ship management. An industry that he sees the country could successfully venture into. It is common knowledge that the Philippines is the crewing capital of the global shipping community and that its more than 400,000 registered seafarers make up 30% of the 1.5 million total number of seafarers in the world.
Beyond the massive success manning and crewing has reaped for the country, Santos was one of the very few who dared venture into the more complicated side of shipping. He sees the country in a positive light in its development towards a total ship management Center with traditional hubs like Singapore and Hong Kong getting more expensive.
He said, "many are looking towards Manila, and with the right partners, these shipowners can now seriously take into consideration moving their business here. We have the people to do it, we have the expertise, and most important of all, we offer a cheaper yet quality service to these businesses."
